A segment of the U.S. housing population grew in leaps and bounds over the past decade, but it’s probably not the segment you think.
A report from real estate research website Apartment List shows that six-figure earners became renters in large numbers from 2008 to 2017. The report said that nearly 2 million households earning $100,000 or more joined the rental market in that time frame, representing 48 percent growth.
Denver had the largest percent growth of high-income renters at 146 percent from 2008 to 2017.
